Bitumen CRS-2 is a type of cationic rapid-setting asphalt emulsion. Here are some key points about it:
Composition: It is made by mixing bitumen with water and emulsifying agents. The emulsifying agents help to break down the bitumen into tiny droplets that can be suspended in water.
Properties: CRS-2 has a higher viscosity compared to CRS-1, which allows it to be sprayed in thicker films. This makes it ideal for use in hot temperatures and for applications where a thicker coating is neede.
Applications: It is commonly used for road construction and maintenance, including spray patching, sand seals, and single and multiple chip seals. Its rapid-setting nature allows traffic to be restored shortly after application.
Advantages: CRS-2 provides increased durability, prevents moisture penetration, and helps to seal narrow cracks. It also prevents slippage between layers of pavement.
